A lifelong resident of Georgia, ChaQuias Miller-Thornton serves the City with over 16 years of experience in local government service.
Ms. Thornton began her tenure as City Manager after having served the City for two years as City Clerk. Prior to her 2014 appointment as City Clerk, Ms. Thornton served another Georgia city for 14 years, where she worked to implement sound administrative and financial management as City Clerk Administrator/CFO.Ms. Thornton has earned her Municipal Clerk’s Certification and Levels I and II Finance Officer Certifications through the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government and she continues to seek educational opportunities that will further advance her ability to better service the municipal citizenry. She is grateful to the administration and to the citizens of Stone Mountain for the opportunity to serve, and she looks forward to working with all of the component units of this City to fulfill a common goal – to strive for the forward progressive movement of the City of Stone Mountain, Georgia – making this an even better place to live, to work, to visit, and to grow. #VillageStrong
