The City of Stone Mountain, Georgia is nestled on the west side of Georgia's Stone Mountain Park just sixteen miles from downtown Atlanta in DeKalb County.  Founded in 1839, we celebrated our 175th anniversary as a city in 2014.  As you tour our web site we hope you will find many reasons to pay us a visit in person.

The governing authority of the city is the Mayor and City Council.  The chief executive and administrative officer of the city is the City Manager.  The Mayor and six Council members serve four year terms.  Three council members are elected every odd numbered year.  The next mayoral election will be held in 2021.  Council members are elected at large to individual posts, meaning every registered voter in the city can vote for each post.
